1950-51

• During the off-season, the Chicago Black Hawks and Detroit Red Wings finalized a trade involving nine players. At the time, it was the biggest trade in NHL history.

• In a desperation move to pull the team out of a slump, the New York Rangers hired a hypnotist to help relax the team. It didn't work as the Rangers lost their next game.

• The Toronto Maple Leafs captured the Stanley Cup, beating the Montreal Canadiens in five games. It was their fifth title in seven years.
